Inositol is a naturally occurring carbohydrate found in fruit, beans, grains and nuts, and made in the body from glucose. It is not a vitamin, although older labels group it with the B vitamins. Every product on this page uses myo-inositol, the form found in food and in almost all supplements. Three are single-ingredient inositol capsules. One pairs inositol with choline. The products differ on three things that matter when choosing: how much inositol is in each capsule, what the capsule is made of, and whether choline is included.

How to choose
By dose per capsule. If you want the most inositol per capsule, Swanson at 650mg leads, then Osavi at 600mg, then NOW at 500mg. All four direct one capsule daily on the label. If you are considering a higher daily amount than the label states, discuss it with your pharmacist or doctor first; the product pages state the labelled dose only.
By capsule type. Osavi and both NOW products use hypromellose (HPMC) capsules and carry vegan labelling. Swanson uses a gelatine capsule and is not suitable for vegetarians or vegans.
Single ingredient or combination. Three products are inositol only. NOW Choline & Inositol splits the capsule between 250mg choline and 250mg inositol. Choline holds authorised EU claims (it contributes to normal lipid metabolism, to normal homocysteine metabolism and to the maintenance of normal liver function), and at 250mg per capsule that product meets the condition for using them. Inositol itself holds no authorised claim in any of the four.
By excipients. Osavi has three ingredients (myo-inositol, HPMC shell, inulin). NOW Inositol 500mg uses rice flour, vegetable stearic acid and silicon dioxide. Full ingredient lists are on each product page.

Inositol supplements in Ireland: common questions
Are these all myo-inositol?
Yes. Every inositol product on this page uses the myo-inositol form. NOW and Osavi state it on the label; "inositol" on a supplement label means myo-inositol unless another form is named.
Is inositol a B vitamin?
No. It was grouped with the B vitamins decades ago and some brands still file it that way, but the body makes its own inositol from glucose, so it does not meet the definition of a vitamin. It is a carbohydrate.
Which inositol capsules are vegan?
Osavi Inositol 600mg, NOW Inositol 500mg and NOW Choline & Inositol use HPMC capsules and carry vegan labelling. Swanson Inositol 650mg is a gelatine capsule.
Do you stock inositol powder?
Not at present. This collection is capsules only. Capsules give a fixed, measured dose; powder suits people who want to take gram-level amounts. The ingredient is the same in both formats.
Is inositol legal to buy in Ireland?
Yes. Myo-inositol is a long-established food supplement ingredient in the EU and is not a novel food. It is sold under FSAI and HPRA oversight, is not a licensed medicine and needs no prescription.
