Osavi Reishi 1000mg - 120 Vegan Capsules

€ 26.50 EUR € 29.50 EUR

Osavi Reishi 1000 mg is a food supplement in hard vegan capsules, providing 1000 mg of Ganoderma lucidum fruiting body extract (DER 4:1) per two-capsule daily serving, standardised to a minimum of 40% polysaccharides. 120 capsules, 60 servings.

Reishi products differ enormously in what is actually inside the capsule. Many are milled whole mushroom powder or mycelium grown on grain, with no declared active content at all. This one is a concentrated extract of the fruiting body only, standardised so that every serving carries declared minimums for polysaccharides, beta-glucans and triterpenes. Those three numbers are printed on the label, which is the fact most reishi brands leave out.

At two capsules a day, the 120-capsule bottle is a 60-day supply.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Osavi Reishi 1000 mg?

It is a food supplement in hard vegan capsules containing an extract of the fruiting body of Ganoderma lucidum, the mushroom commonly called reishi. Each two-capsule daily serving provides 1000 mg of extract at a drug-to-extract ratio of 4:1. The bottle contains 120 capsules, which is 60 daily servings.

How much reishi is in each serving?

1000 mg of extract per two capsules, so 500 mg per capsule. Because the extract is DER 4:1, that 1000 mg is produced from 4 g of dried reishi fruiting bodies. Be careful when comparing products: some brands quote the raw mushroom equivalent rather than the extract weight, which makes the number on the front of the bottle look much larger for the same amount of actual extract.

What do polysaccharides, beta-glucans and triterpenes mean on the label?

They are the compound groups the extract is standardised for, so the label can state a guaranteed minimum in every batch. Polysaccharides are complex carbohydrates found in fungal cell walls, and beta-glucans are a specific subgroup within them, which is why the label lists beta-glucans as "of which". Triterpenes are a separate group of compounds and are the reason reishi tastes bitter. These are composition figures only. No health claim is authorised in the EU for any of them from reishi.

Is this made from the fruiting body or from mycelium?

Fruiting body only. The fruiting body is the visible mushroom itself. Mycelium is the root-like network, and mycelium products sold in capsules are often grown on a grain substrate that stays in the finished powder. Osavi state fruiting body extract on the label, and the standardised polysaccharide, beta-glucan and triterpene figures are declared against that extract.

What does DER 4:1 mean?

DER stands for drug-to-extract ratio and describes how much raw material went into the finished extract. At 4:1, four parts of dried mushroom produce one part of extract, so the 1000 mg serving here comes from 4 g of dried fruiting bodies. A higher ratio is not automatically better, because the standardised active content matters more than the ratio on its own.

Yes. Reishi fruiting body preparations are sold legally in food supplements in Ireland and across the EU, and this product is placed on the market as a food supplement under FSAI and HPRA rules. Separately, no reishi health claim has been authorised under EU Regulation 1924/2006, which is why this page describes composition and sourcing rather than effects.

Is it suitable for vegetarians and vegans?

Yes. The capsule shell is hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, a plant-derived cellulose, so there is no gelatine in the product. Osavi also state the product is free from sugar, gluten, lactose and soy, and that it is non-GMO, kosher and halal. If you have a specific allergen concern, always read the label on the bottle you receive, as manufacturers can change specifications.

How many capsules should I take, and how long will one bottle last?

The manufacturer's recommended daily dose is two capsules, taken after a meal with water. At that rate, the 120-capsule bottle lasts 60 days. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose.

Are there any precautions?

This product is for adults 18 and over. It is not for use by children, or by women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Consult your pharmacist or doctor before use if you are under medical supervision, taking any medication, or have food allergies. Food supplements are not a substitute for a varied, balanced diet.

How is it delivered, and will there be customs charges?

Orders are picked and dispatched from our Dublin warehouse by DPD, normally on a next working day service within Ireland. Because the stock is already in Ireland, there are no customs charges, import VAT or courier handling fees on an Irish delivery.
