Osavi Chaga 1000mg - 120 Vegan Capsules

€ 24.95 EUR € 27.95 EUR

Osavi Chaga 1000 mg delivers 1000 mg of chaga (Inonotus obliquus) fruiting body extract per two-capsule daily serving, standardised to a minimum of 40% polysaccharides and a minimum of 30% beta-glucans, in 120 vegan capsules.

Chaga is a fungus that grows on birch and poplar trunks across the Northern Hemisphere, forming a hard, black, cracked-bark mass that is harvested and extracted. Most chaga products on the market state only a milligram figure, which tells you almost nothing on its own. This one publishes the three numbers that actually define an extract: the drug-extract ratio (DER 10:1), the standardised polysaccharide content, and the beta-glucan content within it.

One point of honesty on the numbers, because it is routinely blurred elsewhere: the beta-glucans are a portion of the polysaccharides, not an additional amount on top. A serving supplies a minimum of 400 mg of polysaccharides, of which a minimum of 300 mg are beta-glucans. It does not supply 700 mg combined.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Osavi Chaga 1000 mg?

It is a food supplement in hard vegan capsule form containing chaga (Inonotus obliquus) fruiting body extract. Each two-capsule daily serving provides 1000 mg of extract at a drug-extract ratio of 10:1, standardised to a minimum of 40% polysaccharides and a minimum of 30% beta-glucans. One tub contains 120 capsules.

How much chaga is actually in a serving?

A two-capsule serving contains 1000 mg of chaga fruiting body extract. Because the extract is DER 10:1, that 1000 mg is obtained from 10 g of chaga fruiting bodies. Within the extract, a serving provides a minimum of 400 mg of polysaccharides, and a minimum of 300 mg of those polysaccharides are beta-glucans. The beta-glucan figure is part of the polysaccharide figure, not in addition to it.

Does chaga have an approved EU health claim?

No. There is no authorised health claim under EU Regulation 1924/2006 for chaga, for fungal polysaccharides or for fungal beta-glucans. We therefore make no health claim for this product anywhere on this page. There is a separate authorised claim relating to beta-glucans from oats and barley, but it applies only to those sources at a much higher daily intake, and it does not apply to this product.

Chaga is sold in Ireland as a food supplement. The EU Novel Food Catalogue lists the fruiting body of Inonotus obliquus and its aqueous extract powder as not novel when used in food supplements, on the basis of consumption within the EU before May 1997. Uses outside food supplements may be treated differently. This product is a fruiting body extract supplied in capsule form as a food supplement.

Is this fruiting body or mycelium?

Fruiting body. The extract is made from chaga fruiting bodies rather than from mycelium. This distinction matters when comparing products, because mycelium-based ingredients are often grown on a grain substrate and the finished powder can include a substantial proportion of that substrate. The DER 10:1 ratio and the published polysaccharide and beta-glucan percentages let you compare this extract against others on a like-for-like basis.

Is it suitable for vegetarians and vegans?

The capsules are vegan capsules, as stated on the bottle. Chaga is a fungus, so the extract itself contains no animal-derived material.

How many capsules do I take, and when?

Two capsules daily, taken after a meal with a glass of water. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. The product is intended for adults aged 18 and over.

How long does one tub last?

Sixty days. At the recommended serving of two capsules daily, a 120-capsule tub is a two-month supply. Osavi also produces a 60-capsule size, which is a one-month supply at the same serving.

Are there any precautions?

Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. This product is not for use by children or by women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Consult your pharmacist or doctor before using this product if you are under medical supervision, if you take any medication, or if you have food allergies. Food supplements should not be used as a substitute for a varied and balanced diet.

How is it delivered, and will I pay customs?

Orders are dispatched next working day from our Dublin warehouse by DPD. Because the product ships from within Ireland, there are no customs charges, import duties or handling fees on Irish orders.
